April 19, 2009 · 1 Comment

by Tours2India4Health Consultants

If you have got fed up of aging signs on your face then Rhytidectomy in India can prove as a less cost face contouring solution to you. Rhytidectomy or face lift surgery is a good option to remove old age wrinkles on cheeks, chin and around eye bags. The aging process of the face is mainly an issue of decreasing volumes, principally fat. Nonetheless, at some point it is more expedient, and indeed preferable, to perform a rhytidectomy, or a face-lift procedure. The basic concept of a face-lift is simply to elevate the tissues of the face in order to restore a more pleasant contour.

As we age, the face undergoes predictable changes, so in general, as the volumes of fat, muscle, and bone decrease with age, there appears to be an excess of skin and muscle all these aging defects can be checked with a rhytidectomy. Indian clinical care and medical treatment facilities are earning good fame in foreign countries due to their low cost and excellent quality. Rhytidectomy in India is being done at the most efficient cosmetic surgery hospitals and clinics in India at Mumbai that have provided good results to foreign patients.

Rhytidectomy in India is provided at the most recognized cosmetic surgery centers to give best post recognized results. As a cosmetic surgery procedure of rhytidectomy is also well known as face lift surgery. If one is bothered by the signs of aging in your face, then a rhytidectomy may be right for you. Rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Rhytidectomy can be an effective way to improve appearance of face and boost self-confidence, but it is not for everyone. Patients whose skin is still relatively supple, and who are in good overall health, achieve the best results. Face-lift normally takes from two to five hours to perform. If you are having a platysma, or neck lift, the surgery will last closer to 5 hours.

Dental Implants in Hungary: Case Study

February 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

by Prudent-Hungary

Frank Petersen, (47) lost all his upper teeth at the age of 44. He needed to wear full removable denture for 3 years. This replacement for him was not satisfactory neither from esthetics point of view, nor with regards to stability of teeth.

After careful consideration, and making several enquiries he came to us with the request of making him a new dental replacement which enables him to live normal life, without the usual risks of wearing a denture. He did not dare to smile and go out with friends any more.

Following his thorough dental check-up we proposed him to have implants, although his bone in the back of his mouth was deteriorated so badly that it was not able to have the implants supported. So we had a special solution for him.

We put the four implants into the front (teeth 14, 12, 22, 24) and for the healing period of 5 months we underlined his old denture inside, with a material that remains soft and enables him to wear the denture without significant pain.

Five months later, after the healing period he came back for the definitive replacement. It had to be a combined solution, due to lack of bone. We made the denture on the implants and for the back part we made a removable part that was attached to the implant denture with slides. This way there was no need for the palate in this denture and this could remain in his mouth all the time.

Frank liked this solution very much, as it was stable, enabled him to eat properly and live a full life as well as the esthetics of this solution was much higher than before.

He needed to learn to smile again, but of course he was happy to do so.

Frank had been a heavy smoker of daily 20-25 cigarettes. This was the main cause for the loss of his natural teeth. Smoking is a high risk factor with implants, so we asked him to give up smoking. Unfortunately, he was not able to give up totally, but today he has reduced the number of cigarettes to 8-10 for a day. For 14 days after the implant operation by him, he was not smoking a single cigarette!

Affordable Gastric Bypass Surgery in Mexico for $12,200

December 29, 2008 · 1 Comment

Gastric Bypass Surgery Overview
Gastric bypass surgery is considered a form of bariatric surgery, a field that deals with weight loss and obesity. Today, gastric bypass is generally performed using a technique called Roux-en-Y. This procedure reduces the size of the stomach to create a pouch that accepts no more than an ounce or so of food at a time. A small opening between the stomach and intestine allows food to travel directly to the large intestine. Gastric bypass surgery literally bypasses the bulk of the stomach and encourages massive weight loss in obese individuals.

Advantages of Gastric Bypass Surgery
Gastric bypass surgery enables individuals who have not responded to typical diet and exercise treatments to lose massive amounts of weight. In most cases, patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery are able to lose up to 80% of their excess body weight in one year. Because nearly 95% of weight related health problems, called co morbidities, include high blood pressure, diabetes, incontinence, and GeRD, many patients find that such conditions have also been alleviated or eradicated as a result of the surgery.

Our Gastric Bypass Surgery procedure for US$12,200 includes:

• Hospital Fees

All Inclusive, Affordable Liposuction Cancun Vacation

August 19, 2008 · 3 Comments

Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery designed to help remove excess fat deposits from certain areas of the body. Women are more apt to consider liposuction than men, as it helps to improve proportion, body contours, and most importantly, self-image and confidence. Liposuction is also known as lipoplasty and can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Who Benefits from Liposuction?
Many people, especially those heading toward middle-age, benefit from liposuction treatments that help to rid the body of excess pockets of fat that accumulate around the hips, abdomen, arms and buttocks. Rather than being used as a weight control or fitness method, liposuction addresses genetic traits toward excess fat deposits, and is often combined with other plastic surgery techniques such as a tummy tuck, breast reduction, or facelift procedures.

Patients considering liposuction should be aware that it is not considered a treatment for obesity or as a replacement for nutritious diets and adequate exercise. Liposuction will not remove cellulite or saggy skin. For optimal success of liposuction procedures, the best candidates are healthy men and women who are in generally good physical condition, and especially those within 30% of their ideal weight. Individuals who suffer from medical conditions or life-threatening illnesses are not good candidates for this procedure.

Upcoming Trends in Cosmetic Surgery

August 18, 2008 · 2 Comments

Cosmetic surgery has enjoyed a long and illustrious history not only in the United States but also around the world. Recently, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons released results surrounding the rising numbers of individuals choosing cosmetic surgical procedures since the year 2000. Everything from breast lifts to Botox to tummy tucks, cosmetic surgical procedures are growing in popularity around the world. Medical tourists are able to enjoy a wide selection of minimally invasive, surgical, and reconstructive cosmetic surgical procedures in the future as trends continue to attract the attention of baby boomers, all socioeconomic demographics and genders both domestically and abroad.

Top Five Cosmetic Surgical Procedures
While techniques and methods used in a variety of cosmetic procedures are continually advancing, 2008 saw a large increase in injectable and noninvasive treatments such as Botox, as well as breast augmentation procedures. Studies have shown that over 10 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in the year 2005 alone, a nearly 40% increase since the turn of the new century. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the global market now exceeds $30 billion, with a sustainable compound annual growth rate in the range of 25%.

According to recent statistics, the top trends in cosmetic surgery include:

  • Breast augmentation
  • Breast lift
  • Dermabrasion
  • Tummy tuck
  • Botox treatments
  • Laser skin resurfacing

Who Is Having Plastic Surgery?
The trend seems to be showing a desire to minimalize and reduce the effects of aging, and this desire does not seem to be limited to baby boomers. Individuals as young as 25 and 30 years old are engaging in minimally invasive cosmetic procedures such as Botox and laser skin resurfacing as well as dermabrasion.

UK pensioner selects Indian Orthopedic surgeon for knee replacements abroad – PRLog

August 9, 2008 · 1 Comment

Jul 27, 2008 – British pensioner gets two new knees via replacement surgery in India.

Mr. Kenneth Perris, a pensioner from Welwyn Garden city, Hertfordshire, UK is overjoyed with his double full bending knee replacements in India. The 81 year old Ex British Rail employee and World war veteran underwent successful surgery by Dr. A.K.Venkatachalam in India at the spanking Chettinad health city hospitals near Chennai.

Hailing from Liverpool, Kenneth now lives in Welwyn garden city with his adoring wife after retiring from British rail. He has suffered from knee pains since long due to bow legs.

He had been placed on a British waiting list for knee replacements for the last couple of years. This year, after turning 81, he felt that he deserved better and wanted to enjoy a better quality of life. He was not keen on surgery in NHS hospitals. His daughter located a Knee surgeon in Chennai on the internet in her search for “Knee replacement surgery in India”.

The family checked out the surgeon’s credentials from a former patient in nearby Luton. The knee operations were performed under regional anesthesia 4 days apart. Exactly a week after his admission in the hospital, Mr. Perris is able to walk without any support after bilateral knee replacements.

Milestone disc replacement surgery (4 level) performed for the first time in Asia at Artemis Health Institute

August 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Gurgaon, August 2, 2008: Dr. Harshavardhan Hegde, Consultant and Head, Department of Orthopedics and Spine Surgery at Artemis Health Institute, Gurgaon performed a 4 level disc replacement surgery on a 54 year American patient. Dr. Hegde in an 8 hour long surgery replaced two lumbar discs (lower back) and two cervical discs (neck).

The patient was suffering from disc degeneration for the last 10 years and when he came to know about Dr Harshvardhan Hegde from a patient who had been treated by him earlier. One option was to have a fusion surgery and the other was to have disc replacement surgery which is more complicated but has a faster recovery.  He chose the latter. The patient was walking on the first postoperative day and is hoping to be discharged from the hospital in five days.  The cost for the surgery in India too was a big relief for him. It cost him USD 25,000 US dollars for a 4 level disc replacement at Artemis Health Institute, while in America he was given a budget of around 2,50,000 US dollars.

Cervical disc replacement is a procedure where an artificial cervical disc is inserted between two cervical vertebrae after an intervertebral disc has been surgically removed in the process of decompressing the spinal cord or/and a nerve root. The intent of the device is to preserve motion at the disc space. It is an alternative to the use of bone grafts, plates and screws in pursuit of a fusion following such a disc removal, which necessarily eliminates motion at the operated disc space in the neck.

Tummy Tuck & Cosmetic Surgery in Argentina | Personal Experience with Dr. Brosto

July 13, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I am very happy to provide you with my personal experience and why I felt so at ease with my decision to travel to Argentina to be operated by Dr. Brosto. I, as yourself, felt a bit afraid to travel to a foreign country for surgery as I had heard horror stories of complications, risks involved with having any medical procedure outside of the United States. I live here in San Francisco, CA.

The most important elements in your assessment of any doctor is to obtain as much information about the doctor as possible, evaluate his credentials, his dedication to quality, his upholding your best interest, and most importantly, his evaluation of your health and any potential risks prior to surgery. Thorough communication and taking the opportunity to speak with Dr. Brosto directly prior to your visit is also a key to your feeling completely at ease and confident with your decision to trust this process.

I highly recommend, as I did myself, that you also have a full health assessment from your own physician and communicate your desire for cosmetic surgery and if he/she feels that based on your current health assessment, that it is safe for you to proceed. Take a copy of your assessment from your physician to Argentina upon your decision as the doctor will also perform his own medical assessment with a certified cardiologist as well as medical testing processes prior to his performing your surgery.

I will speak from my heart now and convey my own experience. I had been seeking for qualified cosmetic surgery at affordable prices here in the city for many years prior; however, I knew that it would expensive and most of the doctors that I interviewed were qualified, perhaps, but I did not feel the heart to heart connection with them. To them, I was all about the money they would obtain from me for their services. And their fees were so high that I knew I could not afford it for many years to come. I did not feel they were very personable to me nor did they truly care about me or have my best interest in mind.

In 2004, I began to research the internet in order to possibly find an option that would provided me with an opportunity to obtain quality cosmetic surgery of the highest caliber from a licensed and fully credited doctor at an affordable price here in the US. The only options made available to me were programs that supported student surgeons in obtaining patients to operate on in order that they obtain the practice they needed to complete their residency prior to becoming certified cosmetic surgeons. Upon their interview of myself, they declined me as a patient because I was too young and they preferred more elderly patients that would give the student surgeons patients that would require surgery for drastic and dramatic changes. I would not be able to provide them this opportunity and again, the program was designed to aid the student in their practice. I did not provide them with enough challenge for this endeavor.

High Flexion Total Knee Replacement – Dr. A.K. Venkatachalam

April 28, 2008 · 2 Comments

A welcome boon for patients with Knee osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis of knees affects predominantly the senior citizen age group. Total knee replacement is a permanent solution to the aged suffering to provide permanent pain relief. The elderly become pain free and the quality of life improves.

However there has been a universal feeling amongst south Indians that the majority of implants available in India and Chennai do not allow more than 100 degrees of knee bending. The patients say that they are unable to squat on the floor or climb stairs easily with the operated leg going up first and have to drag it behind the good one.  Even computer assisted surgery cannot achieve these unless the prosthesis is designed to provide this extra bend.

They may have difficulty in climbing stairs, using Indian toilet and squatting on the floor. This is a great disadvantage to majority of South Indians who prefer to squat on the floor for prayer, social activities and meals. So, many people refrain from undergoing the surgery and suffer in silence.

Now with the advent of a new type of prosthesis, patients in South India undergoing a knee replacement need not be functionally impaired.  A new design of prosthesis allows knee bending up to 155 degrees.  The patient has to be motivated to regain high knee flexion and participate in early and aggressive physiotherapy.  They should not be obese and the pre operative knee bend should be above 90 degrees.

This prosthesis is implanted by special instrumentation which is minimally invasive and does not damage the tissues. Hence post operative pain is less and rehabilitation is faster. This prosthesis is different to the many claims of rotating platform prosthesis.

February 27, 2008 · 3 Comments

High costs in U.S. are driving some patients to seek affordable plastic surgery in Argentina, and affordable gastric bypass and affordable cosmetic dentistry abroad, said John H., Director at GoSculptura, a company that sends dozens of patients each month abroad for specialized medical procedures.

Dismayed by high surgical costs in the U.S., increasing numbers of American patients are packing their bags to have necessary surgery performed in countries such as Argentina, India, Thailand, and Singapore.

According to Mark D. Smith, president and chief executive officer of the California HealthCare Foundation in Oakland, People are desperate. This illustrates the growing unaffordability of the U.S. health care system, even to people who are by no means indigent.

1) American Patients going abroad
John. H, Director at GoSculptura says there has been a 72% increase in the last 12 months in the number of American patients seeking care at the network of international clinics and Hospitals that Gosculptura covers. Patients are mostly looking for affordable plastic surgery in Argentina, affordable gastric bypass and affordable cosmetic dentistry treatment options.

Cost is a major factor – patients typically save upwards of 60% from the rates charged at U.S. hospitals. Mr John H. indicates a surge in volume from patients seeking treatments against morbid obesity (affordable gastric bypass & banding procedures): Treatments against obesity are not optional. Patients can die if they do not have access to these. Patients come to us as they are out of options in the U.S. Their country, their healthcare system leaves them on their own.
